Boskalis has secured what the company calls a “sizeable” contract to transport and install the inter-array cables for the first phase of the 2 GW Zeevonk offshore wind project in the Dutch North Sea. The company, which did not disclose the exact contract value, classifies contracts as sizeable if they are valued between €50 million and €150 million.
The Zeevonk scope for Boskalis covers the installation of approximately 149 kilometers of 66 kV inter-array cables connecting 69 wind turbines, as well as cable testing and termination, cable protection system (CPS) installation, survey work and seabed intervention.
The cables will be transported from the manufacturing facility in Eemshaven, the Netherlands, to the wind farm using Boskalis’ cable-laying vessel Boka Ocean. For seabed intervention works, Boskalis will deploy one of its subsea rock installation vessels.
Engineering activities are expected to start shortly, while the offshore installation campaign is planned to take place in 2029.
The inter-array cables for the first Zeevonk phase will be supplied by TKF under a contract the Dutch cable manufacturer signed earlier this year.
