Globus Maritime Takes Delivery of Newbuild Ultramax Bulk Carrier

Dry bulk shipping company Globus Maritime has taken delivery of the GLBS Olympia, an Ultramax dry bulk carrier constructed at Nihon Shipyard in Japan.

The vessel has a carrying capacity of approximately 64,000 DWT.

The handover marks the fourth Ultramax newbuilding delivered to Globus from the Japanese shipbuilder, expanding the fleet to 10 dry bulk carriers.

Across the enlarged fleet, the company said its total carrying capacity reaches approximately 744,622 DWT, with a weighted average age of about eight years as of September 14.

“We remain committed to disciplined growth and the selective expansion of our fleet, while maintaining a prudent approach to capital allocation,” said Athanasios Feidakis, President and Chief Executive Officer of Globus.

Feidakis explained that adding the newly built vessel strengthens operational efficiency while serving the company's objective to deliver long-term value to shareholders.

Operating internationally through its subsidiaries, the Greece-based company transports dry bulk cargoes including iron ore, coal, grain, steel products, cement, and alumina.
