‘Major’ Oil & Gas Player Awards Shearwater With Three-year Contract Off South America

Norway’s Shearwater Geoservices has won a three-year ocean bottom node (OBN) seismic acquisition contract offshore South America, with what it says is a major oil & gas company.

For the contract described as significant, Shearwater will deploy the SW Tasman, using the company’s Pearl node technology, with the SW Gallien to provide source operations during the campaign.

The contract includes firm scopes in the first and the third years of the award period, and includes a framework for potential award of additional projects during the contract period.

Operations will begin in the fourth quarter of this year, with both vessels operating throughout 2027. The subsequent scope is expected to start in late 2028 and continue for approximately ten months.

“This award marks a milestone for Shearwater’s OBN platform consisting of our internally developed Pearl technology and our one-of-a-kind Tasman vessel design. We are proud to have secured this position in South America and look forward to continuing our contribution into the successful development of one of the world’s most important offshore basins,” said Irene Waage Basili, CEO of Shearwater.

The announcement comes shortly after the Norwegian company reported the commencement of the Amapá 3D multi-client seismic survey offshore Brazil, delivered in partnership with SLB.
