Fugro Performs Ultra-deepwater AUV Survey Off East Malaysia

Fugro has completed an ultra-deepwater geohazard site survey offshore East Malaysia, on behalf of Petronas Carigali, the primary upstream exploration and production subsidiary of Petronas, Malaysia's national oil & gas company.

Fugro used autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) technology for the survey carried out at the Megah and Limbayong fields off the coast of Sabah. The campaign started in June and was completed in August.

The Echo Surveyor 8 AUV, deployed from Fugro Equator, acquired high-resolution bathymetric, geophysical, and shallow subsurface data to support geohazard assessment, engineering design, and field development planning.

The project was supported by Fugro’s Kuala Lumpur Remote Operations Centre (KLROC), which provided continuous data quality control and processing.
